THE LEAVEN IN THE BREAD

Gospel Mt 13:33

The Kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into about sixty pounds of flour until it worked all through the dough.

NEW CONCEPTS:

Measure: About 20 kilograms (44 lbs) of flour.

Leaven (Yeast/Sourdough): Flour mixed with water and left to rest for a day. Usually, it is the leftover dough from the previous day's baking. When mixed with new flour and water, it creates the bubbles in the bread crumb during baking.

QUESTIONS and POINTS FOR REFLECTION

1. Why did Jesus know how bread is made?
2. What does it mean that we must be "leaven"?
3. Why do we use the Virgin Mary as an example of "leaven"?
